Yogyakarta — The Faculty of Health Sciences at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta held a Stadium General themed “Airway Management in Children” to improve students’ knowledge and clinical readiness in pediatric emergency care. Students from different disciplines, such as midwifery, anesthesiology, physiotherapy, and nursing students participated in the event.

In her opening remarks, Vice Dean II Faculty of Health Sciences Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, Siti Khotimah, highlight that the event demonstrates the faculty’s dedication to providing high quality education aligned with the latest healthcare practices. She pointed out the significance of airway management skills in children, emphasizing that pediatric emergencies demand swift, precise, and coordinated responses.

“Through this Stadium General, we hope students gain comprehensive insights and strengthen their readiness to face clinical situations, particularly in managing pediatric airways,” she stated.

The session featured Luc K.P. Tielens, MD, as the keynote speaker, who delivered an in depth presentation on both fundamental principles and advanced techniques in pediatric airway management. He addressed common challenges faced by healthcare providers, including anatomical and physiological differences between children and adults, as well as appropriate approaches in emergency settings.

Dr. Tielens also underscored the importance of strong clinical skills supported by rapid, evidence-based decision-making. He encouraged participants to understand and apply systematic airway management algorithms to minimize potential complications.
